WearPy

WearPy is an add-on to the finite element software Abaqus (Dassault Systèmes) that can be used to model wear and deformation of various joint implants.

Computational Prediction of Knee Implant Wear

Specifically, WearPy simulates abrasive wear and creep of 3D solid parts in user-provided finite element models by interacting with the Abaqus API. WearPy can predict the change in surface geometry due to wear and creep, as well as wear volume. The currently implemented state-of-the-art wear and creep laws are valid for UHMWPE articulating against polished CoCr in joint implants in in vitro or in vivo conditions.
