Controllability

The installed infrastructure is in daily operation. If no research project is going on, a "fallback" controller is active. Other project based controllers/mode of operations/experiments can influence the system in two ways:

v1 setpoint control i.e.: The fallback controller stays active. It receives setpoints from an experiment and not the conventional Empa SCADA system.

v2 device control i.e.: The fallback controller stays active, but does not write values to its output. The experiment outputs will be put to the system.

A combination of v1 and v2 is possible.

Every indicated switch is operated by the ehub Team (Empa), in coordination with interested researchers. The indicated heat pump system serves as an example. The same methodology applies to other controllable infrastructure. A list of controllable infrastructure can be found bellow.
