Laser processing has been involved in a large number of industrial applications, e.g., in automotive, aerospace, electronics, and medical sectors. Even though laser processes have been extensively studied, the mechanisms responsible for process deviation and defects formation, e.g., porosity, have not been successfully established. In this field, our mission is threefold:
- First, get a fundamental understanding of laser-material interaction.
- Second, develop/enhance laser processing on any materials.
Finally, develop new in situ and real-time monitoring and control systems for the laser industry.
