Le jeu de simulation postfossilCities a été soutenu dans le cadre du programme national de recherche "économie durable" (PNR 73) du Fonds national suisse. Le projet a été lancé en janvier 2018 et s'est déroulé jusqu'à l'été 2022.

Il a été mené à l'Empa, en étroite collaboration avec:

• Université norvégienne de sciences et de technologie
• Université de Zurich
• UCS Ulrich Creative Simulations
• Haute école spécialisée de Suisse orientale (OST)

Les travaux de recherches ont été principalement effectués par deux doctorants et un post-doctorant.
