Empa's researchers are pioneering a novel electro-dialysis approach to capture CO₂ directly from rivers and lakes using high-performance membranes. By developing 2D polymer-based anion exchange membranes with exceptional selectivity, stability, and scalability, researchers aim to overcome the challenges of low-conductivity water, unlocking a cost-effective pathway for aquatic carbon capture.

Optimizing Direct Air Capture (DAC) systems
