Research interests

I specialize in colloidal physical chemistry, materials science, and gene/drug delivery, while also having a broad range of scientific interests. My main passion is understanding self-assembled systems, including their structures, functions, assembly, and stability, and developing novel characterization methods using small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS and SANS) and correlation spectroscopy. I am particularly focused on creating new bio-nano assemblies for nonviral gene therapeutics, by drawing on insights from chemistry and physics, as well as inspiration from biology. My research has resulted in the development of lipid- and polymer-based nanocarriers for nucleic acid delivery and the design of microfluidic devices for controlled self-assembly of nanomaterials, among other achievements. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to addressing some of society's most significant challenges in health and equality.
