Abstract
In an airplane, varieties of stress factors superimpose themselves and generate unusual failure mechanisms to electronics. Additional and very specific difficulties are given in aircraft electronics supply chains, which mainly result from its characteristic as a low-volume production. This article highlights these issues more in detail and shows some illustrative failure analysis and failure anamnesis case studies from civil aircraft electronics. This work has been made under the precondition that our clients requested anonymization. Therefore, in some of the case studies, no photographs or only small parts of them are shown.
