Industrial production of hydrophobic and oleophilic lignocellulose based fiber boards for electrical insulation

The objective of this project is the development of a lignocellulosic fiber board with enhanced properties, especially a strongly reduced hygroscopicity (and thus increased dimensional stability) together with improved or unaffected oleophilic property. This will be achieved by modification of the fibers in water-based conditions using silane chemistry. The developed board can be used for a number of different applications, including electrical insulation in power transformers.
