ehub platform

ehub combines the demonstrators NEST and move to an energy district, which includes individual energy components, supply grids and real users. ehub is a platform to answer research questions in the energy sector and promote product development.

Demonstrators

The ehub platform integrates two physical demonstrators:

NEST

NEST is structured as a vertical neighbourhood, where new energy concepts can be validated up to district level. It consists of units, which represent energy-producing and –consuming buildings, and a backbone that supplies the units with energy. The backbone consists of storage and conversion technologies as well as distribution grids for electrical, thermal and gas based energy.

move

move, the demonstrator for future mobility, displays different possibilities for using renewable electricity from PV systems for mobility – in the form of hydrogen, synthetic methane and grid batteries. Here, research on the production and supply of fuels for fuel cell vehicles, gas vehicles and battery-powered vehicles is conducted.

Due to the diversity of the systems, the platform can be used to answer a wide range of energy questions. All details about the systems can be found here.

Connect

The infrastructure of ehub is in daily operation. All system parts of the Energy Hub are communicating with each other via a communication bus. The data is logged into a central database and can be accessed via different programming environments such as Python and Matlab. Further information is available here.

Collect

Research and industry partners get access to a variety of measurement data such as climate, electrical and thermal measurements. These are both live and historical data. Further details can be found on this page.

Control

Besides the access to historical and live data, partners also have the possibility to define their own set-points and access the controllable infrastructure remotely in order to validate new control algorithms. Please find further information here.
