Sustainability Assessement for Energy Systems
Supply, storage and use of energy take place in a highly complex socio-technical context. Even though, at first glance, a technical or systemic solution in the field of energy for housing, mobility, etc. might be perceived sustainable, only an in-depth sustainability assessment over the entire process/value chain, i.e., from gaining the materials up to their full-fledged recycling, is capable of revealing the real sustainable value and, thus, helping make well-founded, facts-based decisions within a bigger context. The goal of the Sustainability module is the assessment of materials for energy systems from a holistic perspective in order to evaluate mid- and long-term development trends towards sustainable energy systems and to show specific scenarios for further improvements.
