Debora Keller

Debora studied material science at ETH Zurich. She did her PhD working on the investigation of nanoscale inhomogeneities in chalcopyrite solar cells, at the Laboratory for Thin Films and Photovoltaics at Empa, the Electron Microscopy Center (EMC) at Empa and the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich. After receiving her PhD degree in 2016, she was working as a postdoctoral researcher within the CLUSTER project at the EMC at Empa. Within this project, she investigated atomic-scale particle formation processes by liquid-phase microscopy. Since 2020, Debora is a scientific staff member of the EMC. Besides supporting the EMC in various tasks, her research activities focus on in situ nanoparticle synthesis in ionic liquids.

Research Interests
  • In situ liquid phase microscopy
  • Ionic liquids' interactions with nanoparticles
  • Particle nucleation and growth processes
  • Valence electron energy loss spectroscopy
  • Chalcopyrite thin film solar cells
