Lorenz Hilty is a new member of the University Council of the University of Constance. He succeeds Ulrike Landfester, who resigned at the end of last year. "I am looking forward to my new position," said Hilty. He was elected because his research combines two strategically important topics at the University of Constance: Sustainability and Digitalization. "Perhaps this will also make it easier to initiate cooperations in these areas".

Lorenz Hilty is head of the inter-institutional research group "Computer Science and Sustainability" at Empa and the University of Zurich, where he also holds the Chair of Computer Science. From 2000 to 2010, he headed the research programme of the ETH Domain "Sustainability in the Information Society" at Empa and the Empa research lab "Technology and Society", to which his research group still belongs today.
