Sol-gel based sensors

Gas sensor. Within a collaboration with Empa’s Biomimetic Membranes and Textiles Lab, a Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) system was integrated into flexible porous silica and coated on a PVDF/HFP electrospun fiber matrix, which allows an easy incorporation in the work uniforms for individual monitoring of ammonia in occupational environments [1].

Electromechanical sensor/EMI Shielding. Together with the Cellulose & Wood Materials laboratory, we developed large-area, lightweight, ultra-flexible, and robust crosslinked MXene coated polyimide composites with excellent electro-thermal and electro-mechanical sensing and EMI shielding performance [2].
