| Workshop:
International Workshop on Information Infrastructure
(CODATA)
The manageability of complex information systems
for multidisciplinary cooperation and its use in decision support depends on basic methods
and techniques that cover application layers like
- access and interoperability
- documentation of information models
- validation procedures and quality control
- financial and legal aspects (including copyright)
- enabling cooperation on information
- archiving
- education
This workshop brings together experts from fields that
offer knowledge and techniques for the above mentioned aspects and those who are
interested in knowledge transfer of best practice into other disciplines.
CODATA (Committee on Data for Science and Technology of the
International Council of Science, www.codata.org) supports these cross-discipline aspects
that are fundamental for open access and for qualified use of reliable data.
The workshop is organized as an adjunct to the
International Symposium on "Sustainability in the Information Society" because
it is expected that there is a fruitful exchange of interest as already experienced in
previous cooperations between CODATA and the "Informatics in Environmental
Protection" expert committee of the German Informatics Society.
This Workshop at ETH Zurich is planned to start on Friday, Oct. 12, 11 h and to
close on Saturday Oct. 13, 16 h.
Besides presentation and discussion of papers the workshop is intended to collect
recommendations for state-of-the-art best practice as well as to provide a research and
development perspective for national and international action.
The workshop thus contributes to the fundaments of the Information Society.
