In subsequent rounds of development we delivered a proof of concept in the laboratory, an inspection device suitable for field work and consequently opened the way to a number of applications of magnetic NDT of large diameter cables based on the requirements described by potential end users and actual field experience. Such applications range from the automatic detection of flaws, based on artificial intelligence to the localization of flaws within the cross section fitting physical models to the measured data.
In the present round of development in cooperation with a commercial partner, new designs of the inspection devices will be developed with the aim to increase the efficiency of the device. This will open the way to a commercialisation of the method. |
