WORKING GROUP 5 - "End of Life"

1. Objective of the WG

The basic aim of WG5 "End of Life" is to co-ordinate the efforts of professionals who are interested what happen after products/materials "End of Life" and to enlarge the knowledge for them after they are involved in the natural cycles of disintegration, dispersion, concentration, etc., which form our environment and cause directly the problems of environmental protection.

Dissemination of this knowledge.

Preparing of successful research projects.

2. Possible Research areas and/or topics

What happen after products/materials "End of Life"?

Recycling of products and materials.

Natural and antropogene:

- disintegration of products and materials.

- dispersion of products/materials components.

- concentration of products/materials components.

How the disintegration of products and materials, and dispersion and concentration of their

components cause the Environment?

etc.

3. Objectives / Content of the WG meetings

Practically it could be reached in the way of discussions of EoI in this area and preparing of successful research projects.

4. EoI / projects / members attached to this WG

5. (Next) steps - until the next WG meeting

  • Working Group 5 - " End of Life" forming steps
  • Atracting of new EoI

6. (Next) WG meeting

October, November 2003

7. Background information about the working group

End of life is some sort of burial action. If compare it with human life, we come from the Earth and we go to the Earth. The same happens with materials – they come from the Earth and finally they also go to the earth in the most cases to the Earth surface.

After that they are involved in the natural cycles of disintegration, dispersion, concentration, etc., which form our environment and cause directly the problems of environmental protection.

In fact the Working Group 5 - " End of Life" connected with every LCA project.
