Sustainable renovation of historical buildings SuRHiB

The SuRHiB project aims to develop new renovation technologies for historical buildings (end 19th – beginning 20th century) making use of the latest advances in material technology and of simulation tools for evaluating the energy efficiency, hygrothermal behaviour and moisture damage risk for building envelopes. New nanoporous aerogel based insulating materials are developed and in addition the integration of advanced existing insulating systems (e.g. vacuum insulation), appropriate heating and ventilation systems and optimal solar systems are studied.
